Tá an saothar seo ar na leabhair is cáiliúla dár scríobhadh i nGaeilge faoi aimsir Chogadh na Saoirse. In 1943 a foilsíódh a chéaduair é agus cuireadh eagrán nua amach in 1969. Tá an t-eagrán sin á chur ar fáil arís anois tar éis dó a bheith as cló le fada.
Téacs soléite inspéise atá ann ina rianaíonn an t-údar a shaol mar bhall de Bhráithreachas na Poblachta agus mar Óglach agus na heachtraí a raibh sé páirteach iontu le linn Chogadh na Saoirse i gConamara agus ina áiteanna eile chomh maith leis na sealanna a thug sé i ngéibheann. Tá cur síos ann freisin ar dhálaí maireachtála agus sóisialta mhuintir Chonamara i dtosach an fichiú haois agus ar an obair a rinne sé mar thimire do Chonradh na Gaeilge.
I nglan-Ghaeilge shaibhir atá an téacs scríofa. I Ros Muc a rugadh Colm Ó Gaora sa bhliain 1887 agus cailleadh é i 1954.
This is one of the most well-known books written in Irish about the War of Independence. It was first published in 1943 and a new edition was published in 1969. This is a reprint of the 1969 edition which has been out of print for many years prior to this publication.
This is an easy to read text in which the author outlines his life as a member of the Republican Brotherhood and the Volunteers and the events in which he participated during the War of Independence in Connemara and in other areas as well as the times he spent imprisoned. The book also touches on living conditions and society for the people of Connemara at the beginning of the 20th Century and the work that he did as an organizer for Conradh na Gaeilge.
The book is written in rich Irish. Colm Ó Gaora was born in Ros Muc in 1887 and died in 1954.
